IGD recommends Three Steps to Greener Distribution

International food and grocery expert IGD has unveiled three key performance indicators to help the industry minimise the environmental impact of transporting food and groceries. Speaking at IGD’s Sustainable Distribution Conference in central London, Mr Sykes urged the industry to systematically measure three indicators:
1 – kilometres travelled by heavy goods vehicles in all the distribution legs of a product’s journey

2 – litres of fuel consumed

3 – tonnes moved on the total product journey
