Date For Your Diary: Being Healthy Conference

Leading independent vending consultancy, 24Vend is organising its 2nd ‘Being Healthy’ Conference at AVEX on the 12th June. A line up of speakers from across the food and drink industry will be explaining how healthy vending is successfully working for their businesses and highlighting just a few of the opportunities this growing trend offers vending operators and food manufacturers alike.

24Vend’s Gillian White explains more: “Healthy vending is already delivering profits and competitive edge for operators and producers at home and abroad. Consumers are increasingly seeking healthy food and drink and the industry is responding with an increasing range of high quality products – but at 24Vend we believe that this is just the start. Health is without doubt the next major trend for vending, so come and join us on the 12th June, to find out how it can drive profits for your business”.

Keynote speaker on the day will be Aaron Prout, founder and MD of The School Drinks Company and a passionate advocate of healthy vending. Aaron will be followed by Tracey Graham, owner of Abercromby Vending which was awarded the Scottish Healthy Living Award last year. Demonstrating that the trend is thriving in America will be Jim English from Sprout Retail and Liz Morris from Working Families will be bringing to life the link between vending and workplace productivity and explaining how, when executed based on good science, vending can be the healthy solution.

They will be joined by speakers who will be discussing what makes a good product for healthy vending – starting with Lee Holdstock from the Soil Association. Lee will be looking at the link between sustainability, health and vending. Creator of Tasty Little Numbers, Jo Beach will be telling her story and Tom Lewington from It’s Only Natural will be talking about the growing demand for great tasting, natural food.

In addition to the speakers, there will be an opportunity to sample a range of products and of course to talk to those who are already taking advantage of the growing trend that is healthy vending.

The Being Healthy Conference has the full support of the European vending industry, including NAVSA, the European Vending Association (EVA) and the UK’s Automatic Vending Association (AVA). Jonathan Hilder, chief executive officer for the AVA explains why: “The AVA has always advocated and supported healthy eating facilitated through education and choice. The vending industry is constantly looking at ways it can extend and improve the choice it offers customers and strongly believes that vending can and should be part of a healthy balanced lifestyle.”

Tickets are £25 plus VAT. To book your place at the conference please visit http://beinghealthy2013.eventbrite.co.uk or for further information email Gillian.White@24vend.com or visit 24Vend.com. You can also follow 24Vend on Twitter @24Vend_Ltd (#BeHealth2013).

24Vend is also delighted to be part of a pioneering project with final year degree students at University College Birmingham (BA Culinary Arts) in conjuction with AVA. The students have been challenged to develop healthy vending products addressing many of today’s consumer trends including levels of salt, sugar and fat, packaging and environmental considerations and, of course, affordability. The new products will be judged and showcased at AVEX 2013.
