Newland Payment Technology (NPT), a global provider of payment terminals and technology solutions, is gaining momentum in the UK market, with a growing number of its devices now accredited, live, and in active commercial use across multiple sectors.

Working in partnership with PAYA Gateway, an independent UK provider of card processing and gateway solutions, Newland has moved from early-stage market entry to full-scale deployment – with terminals now operating in environments including retail, charity, EV charging and vending.

Initial traction has been strongest in EV charging and vending, where operators are already using Newland devices in day-to-day operations. The technology is also being applied across charity and B2B applications, reflecting growing demand for more adaptable and cost-effective payment solutions.

This progress has been enabled by PAYA Gateway’s ability to certify and connect new devices to major UK acquirers, removing a key barrier to market entry. As a result, numerous Newland terminals are now approved or in the accreditation process with leading acquirers including AIB, Barclaycard, Global Payments, Shift4 and Worldpay, allowing businesses to deploy them within existing payment infrastructures.

The broad portfolio of Newland devices now available in the UK spans both attended and unattended use cases. These latest generation Android devices include the mobile N950 and N750 SmartPOS terminals, the X800 portable ECR, and the U200 and U2000 smart unattended terminals.

Alan Moss Payment system specialist accelerates UK market push with accredited terminals and live deployments Alan Moss, General Manager of Newland NPT in Europe, commented: “Newland’s position in the UK is evolving quickly. We’re now seeing our devices move beyond initial introduction into high-volume deployment, supported by strong progress on acquirer accreditation and partner integration.

“Through our collaboration with PAYA Gateway, we’ve been able to bring our technology into the environments it was designed for – particularly in sectors like EV charging and vending, where reliability, flexibility and ease of integration are crucial. This is where we’re seeing strong early traction, and it’s laying the foundation for further growth.”

Bill Thompson Payment system specialist accelerates UK market push with accredited terminals and live deployments Bill Thomson, CEO of PAYA Group, added: “For us, the strength of this relationship comes down to how well Newland’s technology fits the markets we operate in. The combination of flexibility and strong technical capability, with highly competitive pricing, makes it a very compelling alternative in a space that has historically lacked real choice.

“With our gateway, we’ve been able to bring Newland devices into the UK properly – securing accreditations, integrating them into real solutions and getting them into live environments. That’s why we’re already seeing strong early traction and adoption expected to drastically accelerate over the next 12 months.”
