No ban on vending in Italy

Recent  reports in the mainstream media than vending had been banned in Italy as a result of the coronavirus are not correct, the Automatic Vending Association has said.

The AVA’s partners in Europe CONFIDA and the EVA, have confirmed the situation as follows:

The Lombardy region, being one of the Italian regions most impacted by COVID-19, has introduced additional restrictions on the movement of its citizens.

• One of these is the closure, along with many other retail outlets, of the on-street 24-hour vending outlets which are so much a feature of Italian street life.

• ‘Ordinary’ vending – in hospitals, government offices, fire departments, the forces and police and other permitted places of work are not affected and continue to provide a vital food and refreshment service.
