GVS Assist and Coffeetech: “The perfect blend”

Drink equipment service giant GVS Assist and leading espresso and premium coffee equipment maintenance specialist ‐ Coffeetech, are joining forces in a move described by Coffeetech’s Managing Director, Duncan Gaffney, as “highly strategic”.

Founded by Deryck and Duncan Gaffney in 1992, Coffeetech has grown to be a major player in the supply and maintenance of espresso machines to the food service sector. It boasts a list of blue‐chip clients including Gondola Holdings (owners of Pizza Express, Zizi, Ask), Co‐op, BB’s, Coffee Republic, Slug and Lettuce and numerous others high street names.

“The deal gives us a major leg up in terms of scale,” Duncan said. “The synergies between us are exceptional and combining the technical infrastructure of two highly complementary operations creates something of a ‘dream team’ for existing and new customers alike. For starters, the enlarged business will employ more field based technicians than any other UK supplier ‐ from day one. This alone is certain to deliver significant competitive advantages going forward.”

Coming on the back of its own prestigious national contracts with major players such as GSK and Tesco, GVS Assist MD, Debbie Mann, believes that the deal with Coffeetech will enhance the prospects of business with high volume, top end coffee retailers and operators.

“In the past GVS Assist has been seen as a company in the vending business,” she said. “With our pre‐eminence in the vending industry this perception is understandable but not really a fair reflection of what we actually do. Of course with the additional resources of one of the country’s leading espresso specialists there can be no doubt in anybody’s mind that our enlarged business now possesses the expertise as well as the capacity to service the needs of the those Customers for whom quality is paramount.”

Duncan said: ”This move is very exciting for all concerned but it’s important to assure existing Coffeetech customers that it’s business as usual. Both Deryck and I will be joining the GVS board; in fact we’ll be pulling out all the stops to ensure that the combined business continues to develop into the most dynamic, customer responsive service organisation in the UK and Republic of Ireland markets.”
