Footprint Forum saw representatives from Huhtamaki, Unilever, Havi, Sodexo and Pret A Manger debate the packaging issues which affect foodservice today.
An expert panel assembled for the third ‘Footprint Forum’ at Pret A Manger’s London headquarters to discuss the environmental impacts of packaging within foodservice which face the industry today.
Richard Firth, Channel Marketing Director, Unilever Foodsolutions opened the Forum with a keynote address, and was followed by Neil Whittall, Commercial & Contracts Director, Huhtamaki and Environmental Officer for the Food Packaging Association (FPA) who gave an overview of packaging in foodservice. Jocelyn Ehret, Senior Head of Sustainability and Innovation (Europe), Havi Global Solutions closed the presentations before the Forum panel debate began.
Chaired by Peter Farrett, the Footprint Forum saw the event speakers join Ian Douglas, Pret A Manger and Thomas Jelley, Sodexo in debating issues affecting the industry, including how to reduce packaging and food waste – an issue which the whole supply chain agrees needs to be addressed, but that the foodservice industry has no control over how end-user consumers dispose of their takeaway rubbish.
