AVA reforms alliance with Macmillan

The AVA and its members have supported Macmillan Cancer Support since 1998 and having recently met Rachel Gascoigne from Macmillan, Jonathan Hilder is keen to maintain the enthusiasm for raising funds for this good cause.

In the past AVA Members have climbed mountains, walked many miles, trekked glaciers, played football, danced their socks off, drunk a lot of coffee and played hundreds of rounds of golf, to help raise an incredible £325,000 to help people living with cancer.

Rachel explained: “Some charities fund research into the causes and treatment of cancer; others care for people with cancer in the last stages of their lives. Macmillan is different.

They are a source of support for those living with cancer today, providing practical, emotional, medical and financial support and campaign for better cancer care.“ Macmillan’s largest fundraising event of the year “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” was held last month and many AVA members took part. There is also a Strictly Come Dancing sweepstake which started on October 1st.

Jonathan has invited Rachel to the AVA regional meetings where you can see her passion for the charity first hand. He also plans to reform the AVA charity committee which will not only look at ways of supporting Macmillan but also include helping some of the other worthy charities that AVA members are actively involved in. Look out for the Macmillan events on the news page of the AVA website – www.ava-vending.co.uk.
